Scooter Braun revealed it was Ariana Grande who pushed him to sign Demi Lovato.
The longtime manager, who also represents artists like Justin Bieber, Dan + Shay and Usher, opened up about his decision to represent the pop star as a new client last year during an interview with model Ashley Graham on her Pretty Big Deal podcast.
"I said Iâll take the meeting, but Iâm not going to do this we have too much going on. And I met her and I said, 'I have to do this. Sheâs special. I want to do it,'" he explained. "I told her I need to speak to the two big solo females we represent because I want to make sure they are OK with this."
The two female artists he's referring to are Tori Kelly and the Thank U, Next hitmaker, who made it very clear she wanted Braun to sign the "Anyone" singer after meeting with her in person.
"Demi and Ariana went for coffee, and Ariana called me and said, âYou have to do this. I want her with us. She's in our family. She'll be protected, she's my friend. I want her with us. I want you to help her,'" he recalled. "And I just thought that was really, really cool and very different from what you expect in today's music industry."

Kylie Cosmetics may have recently closed its fulfillment center as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but that didn't stop its founder Kylie Jenner from contributing a large sum of money to relief efforts.
On Wednesday (March 25), Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi â who delivered the makeup mogul's daughter, Stormi â took to Instagram to praise Jenner for donating $1 million to ensure healthcare works receive the protection and supplies necessary to combat the virus.
"I am speechless, my eyes are filled with tears of joy and my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. I made a wish to the Universe to gather protective masks for our brave healthcare workers and today my dream came true," Dr. Aliabadi wrote. "One of my patients, a beautiful Living Angel just donated $1,000,000 to help us buy hundreds of thousands of masks, face shields, and other protective gear which we will have delivered directly to our first responders, as too many masks at hospitals are disappearing before making their way onto the faces of our front line heroes."
"I have never felt more blessed to be a doctor, as helping our brave ER and ICU workers feels just as gratifying as helping my own patients," she continued. "From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU @kyliejenner. You are my hero. This generous donation will help save many precious lives. Our world is a better place with you in it. I love you so much.
Thank you X a million...."
The 22-year-old reality star left an equally sweet comment on the post. "i love you! and thank YOU for all the love and care you put into everything that you do! youâre an angel on earth"

During the phone call, West only told Swift about the lyric "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex." Once the song debuted, Swift spoke out about how she felt disrespected and claimed that West never told her the full lyrics. In response, Kardashian-West shared video clips of West and Swift's recorded phone conversation, something that Swift didn't allow or realize that she was doing.
Once the entire conversation leaked, it was clear that Swift did not know about the other lines in the song and even mentioned that she thought the lyrics would be something mean like "b---h."
Kardashian-West liked a Twitter post on Saturday (March 21) that read, "The video showed nothing new. We all knew that. I’m so confused right now."
Meanwhile, Swift liked a handful of supportive Tumblr posts. "Taylor told the truth mood board," one post read. Another one stated, "How I sleep at night knowing we were right all this time and now we have the receipts to prove it,"

Orlando Bloom was celibate for six months before he started dating Katy Perry.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star made some candid revelations about his sex life prior to his relationship with the "Never Worn White" singer. In a new interview with The Sunday Times, he explained how his friend, Laird Hamilton, suggested he try celibacy to help him get his priorities in check.
“Laird said, 'If you want to be serious about a relationship, go celibate for a few months and figure it out,'" Bloom explained. "It takes away the idea of going to a party and thinking, 'Who am I going to meet?’ I was suddenly, like, 'Oh, I can have a relationship with a woman that is just friends.'"
The actor originally planned to remain celibate for three months but found himself "enjoying the way I was relating to women, and to the feminine within myself."
He also said he avoided any form of sexual stimulation during this period. "It was insane," Bloom admitted. "I don’t think it’s healthy. I don’t think it was advisable. You have to keep it moving down there."
The 39-year-old eventually crossed paths with Perry at the 2016 Golden Globes and the rest is history. "She's very surprising," Bloom said of his fiancée, who is currently pregnant with the couple's first child. "She's witty and smart and intelligent. She's charismatic, but she's direct too, and this dynamic was intriguing to me."
